Established in 1837 in Massachusetts, Lamson takes pride in being the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States. Our name is synonymous with American artistry and carries a distinguished history - in 1869, newly-elected US President Ulysses S. Grant was presented with a 62-piece Lamson dinner set at the White House, and pieces of this extraordinary gift remain on display at the Smithsonian Institution in the nation's capital.
Our talented artisans still handcraft each piece in western Massachusetts, offering an extensive selection of elegantly functional products, including laser-cut and forged cutlery, kitchen tools, and trade tools. Despite facing major world events, difficult financial times, and even a natural disaster that forced us to relocate from our original factory, our spirit and commitment to American craftsmanship have remained unwavering. These experiences have, in fact, inspired a renewed celebration of our heritage - the superior quality, service, and passion for excellence that would make our founders proud.
With designs as diverse as the professional and household needs we supply, Lamson products are at once high-performing and stylish, traditional and innovative. As we move toward a third century in a business we've long exemplified, our mission remains steadfast: to aim for nothing short of American-made perfection. Experience the care and deep-rooted tradition embodied in Lamson products.
For Asian cuisine, a big, well-balanced cleaver like this one serves nearly all kitchen cutlery needs. The stainless-steel blade, 8 by 3-1/4 inches, slices thinly and evenly, giving a cook control, speed, and uniformity in cutting tasks while providing enough weight for tougher jobs. The round walnut handle, with a brass fitting between it and the blade, fits snugly in the hand. This classic Chinese Cleaver also functions as a Chef's knife for chopping and slicing vegetables and boneless meat, and then transferring food to the pot.
Crafted from hardened and tempered high-carbon stainless steel, the Walnut handles are unusually hard and durable (natural color may vary), secured with a brass ferrule. Measuring 12.25"L x 4.5"H x 1.25"W, with an 8" blade and weighing 7.45 oz, this tool is a versatile addition to any kitchen.
To maintain the Walnut handles, it is recommended to rinse and wash them in warm soapy water, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth, and store them properly. For optimal appearance, a light application of mineral oil every few months is advised.
